Hobbits became very familiar due to the well known fictional fantasy book named “The Lord of the Rings” a masterpiece written by J. R. R. Tolkien. The true fame become when they started to make one of the most impressive movies from the book started in 2002.
So what is a Hobbit? Hobbits are a fictional human-like race in the novels of J. R. R. Tolkien. It was said that they’re half the height of the humans and are also referred to as Halflings. They were barefooted, and lives underground houses which have windows and is called the Hobbit House.
Hobbits was first shown in a 1937 children’s novel The Hobbit. Where Bilbo Baggins is the main protagonist who is thrown into an unexpected adventure involving a dragon. In its sequel, the Lord of the Rings, there are four primary characters named as Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Peregrin Took, and Meriadoc Brandybuck. The hobbits are slightly mentioned in the unfinished tales, which is the set in the same fictional world of Tolkien’s, called Middle Earth.
According to the prologue to The Lord of the Rings, hobbits are “relatives” of the race of Men. Elsewhere, Tolkien describes hobbits as a “variety” or “branch” of humans. However, hobbits considered themselves as separate people.

If you’re familiar with the movie The Lord of the Rings and know their unique underground house with their large round doors, in El Patio Razon you’ll see a lot of picture worthy spots. Giving you a feeling you are back in the Shire of Lord of the Rings and being a Hobbit like Frodo and Sam! Something you should see and experience yourself.
The hobbit house that you can see and visit at El Patio Razon is a close copy of the hobbit house from the movie “The Hobbit”. It looks as tiny as what it is in the film. Did you know it is even possible to stay there overnight? It is small and cozy house and good for 2 pax.
El Patio Razon is one of the places you have to see when you are in the area of Tanay, Antipolo. And it has many more attractions. Did you know that Razon is a family name that owns the El Patio Razon attraction?
Originally it was considered their private resthouse. It was one of their “bahay bakasyunan” of Mr and Mrs. Razon. However, due to lack of time to manage it and use it for their private leisure, the owners decided to open it for public use and made it into a business. Today it serves now as an open resthouse for team building venue, family outing, and barkada trips.
There are a lot of activities to do in El Patio Razon for only 80 pesos / head entrance fee. You can try horseback riding for an hour that is worth 100 pesos, there is also a Basketball Court where you can freely play anytime, and you can even try jumping on their Trampoline for free.
During nighttime, you can enjoy watching movies under the stars, you can request to set a projector and watch your favorite movies, just don’t forget to bring your own copy of movies as their movie selections are limited. Glam-ping is one of the best things to do during the night. Enjoy the night by having a bonfire while singing out with your friends and loved ones and also you can go stargazing or take photos of Milky Way.

From Gateway-Cubao, ride a jeepney or van going to Cogeo or Padilla. Tell the driver to drop you off at Gate 2. then cross on the other side and walk up until the City Mall of Antipolo. This will confuse you especially when travelling at night.
Landmark of the jeepney terminal will be the 7 eleven right after the City Mall. There you’ll see terminal of jeepney, ride a jeepney going to Sampaloc and tell the driver to drop you of at Maysawa Circuit. Finally, ride a tricycle until you reach El Patio Razon Resort.
TAKE NOTE: Jeepneys going back to Cogeo arrive with an interval of 30 minutes each and usually it’s already FULL. If you’re in a big group, we suggest to ride a tricycle from the resort up to Cogeo to avoid the hassle. (Php 30 per head – good for 5 person).
