Welcome to Boracay!

Welcome to the paradise! One of the most visited island in the Philippines, Boracay is famous for its magnificent beaches and extraordinary parties. It is a tiny tropical island whose area is only 10.3 km², where people from local to different countries come to enjoy the one of the world’s best beach. It has water sport activities, beach life and vibrant night life. Boracay is located at the Northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayan Region. They say that “Boracay” came from the local word “borac” which means “white cotton”. Well, I cannot disagree because have you seen and felt the soft powdery white sand in Boracay? It can actually be compared to a cotton! But, aside from its white sand beaches, there are more interesting things and activities to do in Boracay.

First things first, how do you get to Boracay? Take note that there are no direct flights to Boracay. All visitors must fly either to Caticlan or to Kalibo. From Manila NAIA Airport, you may fly to either Kalibo or Caticlan. From Kalibo, air-conditioned vans and buses can bring you to the Caticlan Jetty Port, which is about an hour and 45 minutes ride, or you can take a motorized tricycle from Caticlan airport to the Jetty, about a three-minute ride.

Are you aware of the differences between station 1, 2 and 3 of the White Beach? The White Beach stands out for its more than 7 kilometers of white sand and crystal-clear water and it is divided in 3 stations and here, you will discover their differences.

In this station, there are luxury resorts and stunning beach. Here you will discover the beach that gives fame to Boracay. You can also see the wonderful sunset while swimming in this turquoise sea. Station 1 is the quietest station where the expensive resorts are located. But there are good restaurants along the beach with affordable prices.

Station 2 is the epicentre of the White Beach. It is good for shopping and partying. It is considered as the busiest station because it has many shops, restaurants and clubs. Hence, this station is always crowded no matter what time is it.

This station has tranquillity and good price. This area is more relaxed and affordable. So, if you are looking for a quiet weekend with the best price, you should stay in Station 3. The beach is not that wide compared to the other stations but it is clean, calm and not crowded. Isolated from the hustle and bustle of the other stations it is a quiet place with more nature.

In short, the differences of the 3 stations is that the station one stands out for its beauty and quality although it requires a higher budget. The station two offers the largest supply of leisure, restaurants and nightlife, although it is rather crowded by tourists. The station three, my favourite which I recommend, has the best price and allows you to enjoy a relaxed atmosphere on the beach away from the hustle and bustle.

I want to share to you my experience about a year ago, during my travel in Boracay, I’ve tried the fun things to do and activities in there. Here are some of them that you should definitely NOT miss while you are in Boracay:

  1. Zipline and Cable Car

Just like the other ziplines, in a superman position, I zipped down across Boracay’s landscapes and I felt the high-speed thrill as I take in the view of the lush green landscape. It took about 3 minutes and after that, we rode a cable car to bring us back to take us back. That ride took 15-20 minutes and I enjoyed the view in a more relaxing setting.

  1. Boracay Paraw Sailing

A paraw is a local sailboat with two outriggers. It can carry up to 6 people, 3 on each side. We sat the outrigger and that time, it was windy so it was more fun and adventurous due to high speed and waves, you will really get wet and the thrill and excitement was there.

  1. Cliff Diving at Ariel’s Point

This is one of my favourite! Ariel Point is a small rocky island with 5 diving boards ranging from 3 to 15 meters. At first, I was so nervous since it is high and it was my first time to dive off a cliff but as soon as I tried it, I totally enjoyed it! I conquered my fear and enjoyed the moment. We also tried snorkelling and kayaking since it was included. It was a fun experience!

In conclusion, Boracay is such a great place to visit and it is the kind of island you will never want to leave because of its white sand beaches and clear blue waters. Not to mention the fun things to do and activities. So, if you are looking for a perfect destination for a beach vacation, consider putting Boracay on top of your list!
